Madame Edee Takantjas French Teacher of the YearBelmont High School's Edith (Edee) Takantjas recently had the honor of being named the French Teacher of the Year through the New Hampshire Franco-American Society. 

Madame Takantjas earned her Bachelor's in French Studies and Master's in French Second Language Acquisition at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. She has been teaching at Belmont High School since 2008. 

In the past 10 years, under Edee's leadership, the French program at BHS has expanded to include a fifth-year class, a strong Societe Honoraire de Francais and French Club. In the spring, honor society students go to their elementary school for weekly after-school French lessons with third and fourth graders. In addition to her role as the French teacher at Belmont High School, Edee Takantjas has also been the treasurer of the American Association of Teachers of French in New Hampshire since 2013.
