BHS Drama will present Footloose the Musical in the Belmont High School cafeteria on March 23, 24 and 25th at 7 PM. Tickets will be available at the door. Adult admission is $10 and students/seniors are $8. The play includes some mild adult language so parent discretion is advised (PG rating).
This musical is based on the 1984 film version, featuring such familiar songs as Kenny Loggins' Footloose, Holding out for a Hero, Let's Hear it for the Boy and Almost Paradise. The plot involves a high school senior moving from Chicago to small town Bomont where dancing has been outlawed. The young man, Ren, decides that, to create something positive out of all the negativity he faces, he will try to change the law, but first he has to face the formidable Reverend Moore who lost his son in a terrible car accident.
The choreography of this show is a tremendous highlight as well as the unique and energetic performances of BHS students, faculty and alumni. We are very excited to present this show.

Belmont High School Principal, David Williams, recently traveled to Baltimore Maryland to present his vision for Competency-Based Education at the Mid-Atlantic Conference for Personalized learning. The conference, attended by leading experts, practitioners, policymakers, and researchers from around the country, is considered to be a premier event for those transforming education in the northeast and mid-Atlantic regions. As part of his presentation, Principal Williams shared some of the exciting work being done at Belmont High School with educators representing 31 states and provinces. On April 19th Mr. Williams will share this presentation with members of the Shaker Regional community at 6:00pm at Belmont High School. All parents and community members are invited to attend.
Superintendent Michael J. Tursi would like to invite Shaker Regional families, staff, and community members in updating the school district’s current Strategic Direction. The Strategic Direction, developed in 2015, serves as the foundation for educating our students. It is now time to update the eight vision areas as outlined in the plan by adding action steps and timelines. During a two-day workshop, discussions will lead to identifying strategic goals for the next five years. The community’s input is very important in this process. The workshop is Friday, March 10, 2017 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, at Belmont High School. The current plan is available by clicking on the following link: Strategic Plan. Please RSVP to register for one or both days by March 8, 2017 to Alicia Sperazzo at 603-267-9223 or email@example.com.
